History at Three Springs: First planted in 2013 for farmers markets

An apple variety developed by famed breeder Albert Etter, "the Luther Burbank of Humboldt County". 'Pink Pearl' is an apple that is known best for it's pretty pink blossoms and pink flesh. Ben was first introduced to this variety at Penn State's Rock Springs Research Farm. While the expression of that pink flesh can be more vibrant some years than others due to climate variations, the high aromatics of this apple and its bright balance of sweetness and acidity make it a popular variety at market. This apple does not keep particularly well.
